The process of appointing new Chelsea manager after Mauricio Pochettino’s Exit has been conducted by co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley.

The duo that oversaw the review into the Argentine coachโ€™s 2023-24 performance which ended with a sixth-place finish and European qualification for next season.

The Chelsea chiefs ain’t impressed with Maurico Pochettino team performance in the just concluded Premier League season and it led to Chelsea making Italian Tactician Enzo Maresca, who joined Leicester at the start of the season and helped guide them to promotion back to the top flight in his first year in charge, a leading candidate and asking for permission to speak to him.

His first full season in senior management impressed the Chelsea hierarchy and the Italian is now expected to become the next Blues head coach in the next few days once an agreement is made.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will have to pay a reported โ‚ฌ12 million in compensation to Leicester City, for a manager whose system may not have worked in a Premier League relegation battle, the former English Champions are set to lose a talented manager and that isnโ€™t the way theyโ€™d have hoped to start the summer window.
