Last night saw Ecuador record their first victory of this summer’s Copa America, and they had two Chelsea players to thank for a lot of it.
Chelsea boys, Moises Caicedo and Kendry Paez started for their nation last night in the 3-1 win over Jamaica, with the latter finding the net from the penalty spot in what was a must-win game.
Meanwhile, Moises Caicedo’s individual performance against Jamaica got a lot of people talking at full time.
The Chelsea Midfielder saved a crucial goal with a header off the goalline, and the Ecuadorian manager Félix Sánchez didn’t fail to praise the 22-Year-Old after full-time.
He’s a top player, and his performance tonight shows that he’s yet to unluck some potentials… Félix Sánchez says as he praises Caicedo
The win keeps alive Caicedo’s chances of playing in the knockout stages, with Ecuador now back up to second place in the group.
They next face Mexico on Sunday in Arizona with both sides going into the game on three points – meaning the winner will qualify for the quarter-finals, although a draw will be good enough for Ecuador due to goal difference.
