Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee is on the verge of joining Manchester United this summer from Italian Outfit, Bologna.
The Dutch international is close to a £36 million ($46 million) transfer from the Italian side to United. The 23-year-old forward is expected to sign a five-year deal that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2029.
According to reports, Joshua Zirkzee is undergoing a medical at Old trafford currently, and is excited to join the Red Devils.
Meanwhile, it’s said that Joshua Zirkzee hopes to get the No.9 shirt at Manchester United, but it’s still unclear if the shirt will be giving to him even though no one is currently in charge of the number.
The Dutch striker has already worn the No.9 shirt with Bologna over the last two seasons since his exit from Bayern Munich.
Anthony Martial previously wore the No.9 shirt for United, first being handed the number following his arrival from Monaco in 2015 before temporarily vacating it for Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2016 and then Romelu Lukaku before taking it back again in 2019.
However, the departure of the Frenchman means that the squad number is now vacant and could be given to Zirkzee when he completes a move to Old Trafford
Joshua Zirkzee will be unveiled as a United player soon. He will then head off for a shorter summer break following the Netherlands’ exit from Euro 2024, before returning to the Red Devils for pre-season in the coming weeks
