Ruben Amorim Shifts Blame To Two Man United Players After Forest Defeat

2 min read

Manchester United suffered a 3-2 loss at the hands of Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford, making it the second defeat in a row for the Red Devils.

In a breathless first 20 minutes, Forest took the lead through Nikola Milenkovic before Rasmus Hojlund equalised, but the Tricky Trees struck twice in seven second half minutes to take the lead.

Captain Bruno Fernandes gave the hosts hope with a fabulous first-time effort from the edge of the box on 61 minutes, as Amorim shuffled his pack and rang the changes.

Despite bring on players from the bench, the Red Devils failed to get an equalizer or possibly win the game at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile after full time, it’s said that Ruben Amorim was furious at Andre Onana and Lisandro Martinez for their performance against the visitors.

Andre Onana was left stranded for the Forest opener, flat-footed with the swerve on Forest’s second which was unforgivable, and indecisive for their third. A rare horrific outing but a costly one. Comical handling of a late freekick summed up his day.

Amorim also slammed Lisandro Martinez’s performance following the part he played in two of Forest’s goals.

The Argentine defender failed to keep out Milenkovic from the set-piece and bizarrely allowed the ball to go past him after Wood’s header sailed over Andre Onana.

Captain Bruno Fernandes reacted to Nottingham Forest’s third goal by complaining to the referee. That, in a microcosm, is the problem with this Manchester United side. They do not look at themselves enough. That lack of accountability is why they are closer to the relegation zone than the top four.

A win would have taken United above Forest. Instead, Forest are now six points clear of United, still marooned in 13th. United’s evening ended with a feckless free kick conceded by Diogo Dalot inside his own third. That was the final, agonising act.

This was Forest’s first win at Old Trafford since Stan Collymore wowed the Scoreboard End in December 1994. Forest threatened to end that wait last year by scoring two goals inside the first three minutes. United salvaged that day. They didn’t today
