John Terry hypes Cole Palmer’s performance against Tottenham and said the England Midfielder reminds him of legendary Gianfranco Zola.
Chelsea legend John Terry believes Cole Palmer is already looking to exceeded Gianfranco Zola’s legacy at Chelsea in just 18 months.
The Blues jumped to 31 points after 15 Premier League games following an impressive 4-2 comeback win over Tottenham Hotspur from two goals down.
Palmer was the star of the show with two goals from the penalty spot. The Englishman also assisted Enzo Fernandez’s sublime strike.
Speaking after the game, John Terry said that Palmer has not been playing for the best team in the division, but has made a huge mark.
He said: “He hasn’t been playing for the best team [in the Premier League]. When you look at Chelsea over the years.
“You look at flair players you look at Gianfranco Zola. He is probably close to doing more than Zola at Chelsea already in his 18 months at the club.”
The 22-year-old has been exceptional since signing for Chelsea and has now provided more Premier League goals and assists in a calendar year than any player in the club’s history.
His second spot-kick – an audacious Panenka – also means Palmer holds the record for most Premier League penalties scored without a miss
Meanwhile, Enzo Maresca Chelsea side have moved within four points of league leaders Liverpool after beating Spurs, but the Reds have a game in hand at Everton.
