Renato Veiga’s situation has escalated form idle rumor-mongering to actual negotiations between Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea for his actual transfer. Well then.
It’s now certain that the 21-year-old is “expected” to leave, in quest for more playing time and apparently more playing time at center back (like he has been for the Portugal national team).
Meanwhile, Chelsea board are now scouting for a backup Leftback to fill in for Veiga who is now expected to be sold if the right amount is been offered.
Reports told Footyvalid that, Chelsea co.owner Behdad Eghbali has identified young Leftback, Patrick Dorgu as the perfect replacement for Renato Veiga.
Dorgu already appears to be a player on Chelsea’s radar. It has been claimed that Chelsea actually had an approach for £35m-rated Dorgu rejected last summer.
The Dane has a lot of potential, but back then, he probably did not need to be a priority for the Blues. But with Veiga now possibly set to leave the club this month, things are a bit different.
Being 20 years old, Dorgu is obviously at the right age for Chelsea. Offensively, he can be very dangerous, too. Having a full-back like that could really help Enzo Maresca‘s side when facing low blocks.
This season, Dorgu has actually being playing on the right wing despite being a left-back, a testament to his attacking ability. And to make things even better, Dorgu is a Chelsea fan himself!
