Exclusive reports from London revealed that the Chelsea have opened talks with RB Leipzig over the Spanish Midfielder Dani Olmo. Olmo is seen as a potential replacement for Conor Gallagher, who faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge
A positive for Chelsea is the fact that Olmo has a release clause in his contract. This means that the Blues won’t have to negotiate with RB Leipzig over a transfer fee. The bad news is that, well, the Spaniard won’t come cheap.
Chelsea will have to pay โฌ60 million to land summer target Dani Olmo.
Olmo’s summer release clause stands at a whopping โฌ60 million, which means that the west London side will have to match the fee they splashed out on Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku in the summer.
Unless Leipzig show themselves willing to negotiate and settle for a lower fee, signing Olmo will be a pricey affair.
The 25-year-old extended his RB Leipzig deal in the summer until 2027 with the expectation that he would become the club’s undisputed creative force in the wake of the departures of Nkunku and Dominik Szoboszlai.
As mentioned, however, injury issues have restricted him to just 19 appearances, notching seven goals and four assists and also scoring an absolutely brilliant goal for Spain against Brazil on Tuesday.
