It’s said that Chelsea duo Levi Colwill and Cole Palmer have withdrawn from international duty with England amid injury concerns.

Then defender Wesley Fofana also his withdrawal from France’s squad for their Nations League fixtures against Israel and Italy.

The Blues have had an impressive start to the Premier League campaign and they are currently third with 19 points on the board.

Palmer has been the stand-out performer in the final third and the Blues have made the right decision to give him a breather.

The playmaker suffered a minor knee injury against Manchester United, but he was unable to recover in time to face Arsenal.

Despite this, he has withdrawn from Nations League duty.

Similarly, Colwill has been removed from Lee Carsley’s squad and it does not come as a surprise, given his fitness concerns.

The young centre-back has been nursing a muscle problem of late and it would have been risky to send him on England duty.

Both players now have the opportunity to recover completely ahead of a hectic schedule of fixtures after the international break.
