Dennis Wise has delivered his verdict on the potentials of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke at Stamford Bridge, with Pedro Neto and Sancho Challenges.
The English winger scored and assisted for Chelsea as the blues trashed Southampton 5-1 away from home on Wednesday night football.
After the match former Chelsea midfielder, Dennis Wise hailed Noni Madueke’s performance and called on the manager to stick to him though he’ll have to fight the spot with the likes of Sancho and Neto.
Dennis Wise on Madueke: “I was just impressed with his improvement. He’s still 22 years of age. Coming to Chelsea from PSV [Eindhoven], where he scored a lot of goals. He’s now doing it on a consistent basis.
It’s difficult when you’ve got [Pedro] Neto and [Jadon] Sancho playing on the wings as well, but just his application.”
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old England’s winger now has five league goals to his name, matching his entire total from last season already. He’s surely well on his way to his first ever (be it here or in the Eredivisie) double-digit scoring campaign.
But when we look just a little bit closer, we find that those numbers have come in bunches. That hat-trick against Wolves was on his very first Premier League appearance of the season, over three months ago! His two assists have come in his last two appearances. When he’s hot, he’s hot — the fire to Cole Palmer’s ice, as he put it — but when he’s not, he’s not.
And that sort of inconsistency apparently extends to the training ground as well, much to manager Enzo Maresca’s frustration
