The blues have registered their first win of the summer under new manager Enzo Maresca at the third time of asking.
Enzo Maresca’s boys defeated Club America 3-0, with Chelsea fans impressed with the performance of Reece James in particular as he dropped the inverting role from his game.
Meanwhile, after the match Maresca commended Christopher Nkunku’s performance in the last three games for Chelsea so far in the Pre-season friendlies.
Enzo Maresca has been convinced with Nkunku so far, and his words about the forward after the game suggest he is going to be a key player for the Italian this season.
Enzo Maresca on Nkunku’s great impact in pre-season: “I knew Nkunku before I joined… I love him!”.
“He can play in the pocket, as a nine and winger. He’s a very good fit for this system”.
Enzo Maresca also reacts to Christopher Nkunku’s game time as the French man played and scored in three games for Chelsea in the Pre-season.
“The reason he is playing every game is because we know that he is coming back from injuries and needs minutes. He is doing very well and also game after game he is getting better.” Maresca added….
Nkunku missed most of last season because of injury, and it is probably what cost Chelsea in the end.
The £52m France international is such a good goalscorer, netting 58 times across his final two campaigns at RB Leipzig.
Had Chelsea had that clinical edge last term, they probably would have qualified for the Champions League.
