According to reports English giants Manchester United have reportedly begun talks with Bayern Munich to sign Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt this summer.
The Red Devils Chiefs are on the transfer market to lookout for a replacement for France international Raphael Varane and as it’s stands United sees De Ligt as the ideal fit.
Sources told Footyvaild that Manchester United and Bayern Munich are confident of agreeing on a possible €50 million (£42.5m) deal for the defender.
Meanwhile under fire Erik ten Hag is the driving force behind the deal, as he does not want to go into pre-season without a new defender.
The Reds Chiefs have already confirmed that Varnae has left Manchester United with the expiry of his contract this summer.
Though Manchester United are also been linked with Jarrad Branthwaite, but Everton are reportedly demanding over £80 million for the England’s youngster.
Erik Ten Hag will probably be pushing for Matthijs De Ligt, because the dutchman has played under the management his fellow countryman at Ajax in especially during their breakthrough season in 2019/2020.
Though, Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United is still in the balance as the club continue their internal review of the season. Let’s wait and see what happens before the end of the summer transfer window.
