Manchester United abandon Osimhen transfer for his former teammate

1 min read

Manchester United’s transfer strategy seems to be shifting, with reports indicating a change in focus from Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen to Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who played alongside Osimhen at Napoli. Initially, the club sought to acquire Osimhen as a solution to their attacking struggles, which have been exacerbated by uncertainty surrounding Marcus Rashford’s future and Joshua Zirkzee’s disappointing performance. However, recent developments suggest that the club may now focus on securing Kvaratskhelia.

The shift in focus may be influenced by Osimhen’s current circumstances at Galatasaray, where he has publicly reaffirmed his commitment to the club despite interest from Manchester United. He has expressed his intention to remain with Galatasaray for the remainder of the season, which complicates any potential transfer in January. Consequently, United are exploring alternative options, including Kvaratskhelia, who could integrate seamlessly into their attacking setup under new manager Ruben Amorim.

Kvaratskhelia’s playing style is well-suited to United’s need for creativity and pace on the flanks, and his ability to take on defenders and deliver precise crosses could complement existing forwards, thereby enhancing United’s overall attacking threat. Moreover, with Osimhen potentially remaining at Galatasaray, Kvaratskhelia represents a more feasible target for United to pursue this January.
