Former midfielder John Obi Mikel has shared his thoughts on the positive doping test of winger Mykhailo Mudryk.
The Ex-Chelsea midfielder, revealed that he was offered performance enhancers while he was playing.
Mikel Obi disclosed this while speaking on the latest episode of his Obi One podcast.
He was reacting to the news that current Blues winger, Mykhailo Mudryk failed a drug test on Tuesday and was provisionally suspended by the Football Association.
“I hope he is innocent!!! I remember when we played, if someone offered me something, my first question was always, ‘What is it?’ I am responsible for what goes into my body, what I eat, and so on.
People around you will offer you different things. Friends, friends of friends will say, ‘Hey, this will give you an extra one or two percent in your performance,’ but I would ask if it’s legal.
In this case, as I have always said, he is innocent until proven guilty,” Obi Mikel said in his podcast.
Meanwhile, it’s said that if Mudryk faces sanctions, Chelsea may consider terminating his eight-year contract depending on its terms. A four-year suspension would significantly affect the club financially.
The Londoners could sue the UAF if Mudryk is charged and suspended, depending on where the fault lies. If others, such as Mudryk’s support staff, are involved, Chelsea might pursue them legally.
