Chelsea are expecting to make significant changes to their front line this summer but their plans could be scuppered by transfer movements elsewhere.
The blues maybe has run into trouble with their pursuit of Jhon Duran, a 20-year-old striker with Aston Villa.
There have been reports that the club is reconsidering the acquisition because of worries about the young player’s demeanor. Another level of complication to the possible move is Duran’s request for hefty pay
The Blues are looking for an alternative option to Nicolas Jackson up front, with the 22-year-old’s consistency still up for debate despite netting an impressive 14 goals in his debut season.
The deal between Chelsea and Aston Villa had been first concluded, which prepared the ground for the move. More difficult have been the talks with Duran himself, however.
The Blues have to choose now whether to keep chasing the young forward or to search elsewhere for their offensive reinforcement. Reliable goal scorers are still their primary necessity.
However, Villa’s asking price of around €50m could prove to be a stumbling block, with Fabrizio Romano stating that a deal will only happen if players are included as makeweights in any transfer.
