Rio Ferdinand Makes Cole Palmer’s Confession Following His Display Against Iceland

2 min read

Chelsea’s starman Cole Palmer was given another start by England manager Gareth Southgate in yesterday’s Euros warm-up game against Iceland at Wembley Stadium.

The Three Lions finished preparations for this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament with a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Iceland.

The Chelsea Man earned his fourth England cap by starting on the right wing versus Iceland. Like Chelsea fans regularly see under Maurico Pochettino, he did tend to drift infield and go searching to get on the ball.

Meanwhile, England’s and Manchester United’s Ex defender Rio Ferdinand has questioned Cole Palmer’s role against Iceland though the general England’s team didn’t show up at all.

“He has to put in more effort, and at least convert those chances…”

You can’t miss chances like that and expect to win, Rio alleges….

Palmer was one of England’s better players in a poor first half, His outstanding contribution was an angled chipped cross towards Kane.

The England captain made a perfect run off the shoulder of a defender and Palmer’s perfect pass found him. That was where the good news ended as Kane inexplicably volleyed the ball over the bar from six yards out.

The Chelsea attacker was denied a beautiful assist when captain Harry Kane couldn’t convert his cross into the box.

We expected England to pull this game round and that they didn’t is a genuine worry. They got worse, not better, as they chased the game.

Cole Palmer who’s recently crowned the English Premier League Young Player Of The Season, earned his fourth England cap by starting on the right wing versus Iceland.
