Manchester United icon Sir Alex Ferguson has advised his former club to appoint Max Allegri as Erik ten Hag’s successor as coach
That is according to an Italian outfit, who report that Man Utd’s legendary former manager has told the club’s chiefs that Allegri is the right man for the job.
Ferguson and Allegri have always had a good relationship and Gazzetta says that the Scotsman has advised to go for the Italian ahead of other options such as Gareth Southgate and Thomas Tuchel.
The source also adds that Man Utd’s favoured target to replace Ten Hag is currently Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi.
Ten Hag is at risk of the sack after the 3-0 home defeat to Tottenham on Sunday, with reports the Dutchman will be axed if United don’t get positive results in the next two games against Porto and Aston Villa.
Man United currently find themselves languishing down in 13th position in the Premier League with a minus-three goal difference after six games. They were also humiliatingly thrashed 3-0 at home by Liverpool last month.
However, Erik ten Hag has revealed that he had discussions with Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe on how they can improve after their 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
It’s said that the Dutchman is confident about the whole situation for now and his eager to turn things around at Old Trafford this season.
