Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca said he was “not happy” with Mykhailo Mudryk as he explained why the winger was substituted at half-time against Wolves.
Maresca gave a couple of Chelsea players a chance in the Blues’ 6-2 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
One of those players was Noni Madueke, who undoubtedly took the opportunity that was given to him by the Chelsea manager.
But after Chelsea’s first half play, the Italian gaffer replaced Mykhailo Mudryk at halftime and handed Pedro Neto his Chelsea debut.
When asked about his decision at halftime after the game, Maresca stated…
“Because I was not happy,” Maresca said at a press conference when asked why the Ukrainian was hooked at the break. “In some moments we can manage some situations better.
He was working hard off the ball but on the ball, I expect a bit more quality from Misha. He had some good moments today but the reason why was to change it and give Pedro some minutes.”
There has been so little improvement in Mudryk’s game since he arrived, despite the different approach in tactics and coaching of various different managers.
It’s hard to believe there are many fans remaining who still have faith he can ever become good, let alone the world class player we hoped for.
The (much disputed) £88.5m or so we paid for him is increasingly looking like one of the worst deals we ever did – and that’s saying something.
Moreover, the Chelsea head coach stated that Mudryk needs to improve on the ball, then also try and impact games in order for him to spark up his stay at Chelsea
